Broadway veteran, recording artist and current Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams sure is a dedicated patron of the New York stage. So far this year she’s checked in on Shrek, played it cool at West Side Story and supported onscreen colleague Michael Urie at off-Broadway’s The Tempermentals, and on July 11 she added the program to Tony-winning hit musical Billy Elliot to that ever-growing collection. The actress made it a girls’ night out, hitting the show with mom Helen and daughter Sasha by her side. Of course, the trio couldn’t resist taking a trip backstage to congratulate the cast and crew of the heartwarming show, including title star David Alvarez, who took his turn inthe leading role that evening. Her maternal side in full swing, Williams also made sure to give props to each and every young ballerina and cast member on hand. Click here for exclusive backstage access with Vanessa Williams!
